Position Summary

As an Aquatic Lead, you will play a key leadership role in maintaining the quality, safety, and instructional excellence of our swim program. You’ll support and mentor swim instructors, oversee pool operations, ensure curriculum quality, and help create an outstanding experience for both families and team members.


Schedule & Availability

  • 30–35 hours per week

  • Schedule varies by season

  • Includes evenings and weekend mornings


Key Responsibilities

Instruction & Scheduling

  • Teach at least one shift of swim lessons per week (no more than three permanent teaching shifts)

  • Create, maintain, and review instructor schedules

  • Oversee substitute instructors and resolve scheduling questions

  • Anticipate staffing needs and support instructor performance

Leadership & School Culture

  • Uphold Aqua-Tots Swim Schools Core Values

  • Mentor and develop future leaders among swim instructors

  • Foster positive relationships with families and team members

  • Communicate effectively with customers and team members

Aquatic Staff Support

  • Train, assess, and coach aquatic staff

  • Complete training verification forms for new team members

  • Respond to parent concerns regarding instructor performance within 24 hours

Pool Operations & Safety

  • Coordinate pool operations in accordance with State and County Health Department standards

  • Oversee water quality tasks (vacuuming, backwashing, chemical balancing)

  • Conduct safety in-services and ensure compliance with safety protocols

Training & Curriculum Quality

  • Conduct weekly instructor assessments and training sessions

  • Ensure all instructors meet certification requirements and stay up to date with curriculum information

  • Lead monthly in-service trainings and select training topics

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Participate in weekly Aquatic Lead calls

  • Verify time clock entries and complete administrative tasks

  • Maintain accurate training forms and schedules

  • Submit student reports and weekly assessments


Required Qualifications

  • Ability to work weeknights and weekends

  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

  • Experience in swim instruction or aquatic program support
