Availability: Flexible as schedule is based on schools needs
Position Summary
The Aquatic Manager (AM) plays a key leadership role in maintaining the quality, safety, and instructional excellence of our swim program. This position supports swim instructors, oversees pool operations, ensures curriculum quality, and helps create an outstanding experience for both families and team members.
Required Qualifications
- Teach at least 1 shift of swim lessons per week (no more than 3 permanent teaching shifts)
- Ability to work weeknights and weekends
- Maintain a current AT-MWSI Certification

Aquatic Staff Leadership
Responsible for hiring, training, assessing, coaching, and performance of aquatic staff
Complete training verification forms for all new AT-WSI team members
Create, maintain, and review instructor schedules
Oversee substitute instructors and resolve scheduling conflicts
Anticipate staffing needs
Manage instructor performance issues and instructor-specific concerns
Respond to parents within 24 hours regarding instructor performance concerns
Report unresolved aquatic complaints to the GM or MIT
Pool Operations & Safety
Coordinate and manage pool operations in accordance with State and County Health Department standards
Follow and complete opening and closing pool checklists
Oversee water quality tasks including vacuuming, backwashing, and chemical balancing
Take weekly water samples to a local pool store
Conduct two safety in-services per year following HQ guidelines
Training & Curriculum Quality
Conduct 1–2 hours per week of instructor assessments
Spend 5–10 hours per week training instructors (based on school needs)
Training methods may include co-teaching and in-water shadowing (IWSE)
Ensure all AT-MWSI instructors meet certification requirements
Stay up to date with curriculum information from HQ
Ensure lesson quality and student progression
Schedule and lead monthly in-service trainings and select monthly training topics
Administrative Responsibilities
Participate in weekly ATD Aquatic Manager calls (1 hour per week)
Verify time clock entries with scheduled shifts prior to payroll
Complete 2–4 hours per week of administrative tasks
Keep training forms accurate and up to date
Maintain and update the WSI schedule weekly
Submit student reports by designated due dates (including stuck students and aged-out students)
Complete and submit weekly WSI assessments
Send a weekly school update email to the MIT including:
WSI hires
In-training instructors
Completed trainings
Quality concerns
Daily Responsibilities
Supervise and support aquatic staff
Oversee instructor schedules and step in when coverage is unavailable
Host pre-shift and post-shift meetings
Monitor deck supervisors
Ensure all pool opening and closing procedures are completed
Weekly Responsibilities
Adjust aquatic schedules as needed
Meet with Operations Manager (OM) and/or General Manager
Monitor aquatic staff attendance (90% attendance policy)
Develop and implement plans for stuck students
Participate in ATD AM calls
Submit weekly updates and required assessments
Monthly Responsibilities
Support instructor recruitment and training
Lead monthly aquatic in-service meetings
